A blend of pork and beef brings the meatiness—and keeps things moist—and the habaneros add some fruity heat to balance things out.

2 tablespoons oil
1 sweet onion, minced
4 garlic cloves, minced
5 habaneros, seeded and minced
1 pound ground beef
½ pound ground pork
1 (35-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 tablespoon italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup chopped parsley
Your favorite pasta for serving
1. Warm the oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add the onions and garlic and sweat for 2 minutes.
2. Brown the beef and pork. Cook for 8 minutes, or until fully cooked. Drain the excess grease.
3. Add the remaining ingredients except the parsley and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add the parsley and more salt and pepper as needed, and cook for 12 minutes. Combine with the pasta and serve.
